      Buying a Veil

First step:

Choose your gown

By first choosing your gown, this establishes the formality/theme and style of your wedding

(e.g. A traditional gown would suit a traditional styled veil like a Cathedral)

Also selecting your gown as the first step enables you to select an accurate colour veil to suit your gown.

Second Step:

Browse for gown - veil combinations

Keeping in mind your veil is an accessory, the veil & headpiece you choose should blend together with your gown and not overpower it.

Browse magazines, website's, wedding expo's & bridal stores and note or try on any styles of veils that appeared to compliment the same or similar style of gown you've chosen. (take note of the veil fullness & trims used)

Third Step:

Choose your hairstyle for the day

Decide on the hairstyle you will be wearing on the day by browsing magazine's & websites in order to discuss the styles with your hairdresser.

Have a quick trial run with your hairdresser before deciding on the veil. Hairdressers can advise you on the most suitable style for you just by playing with a few styles while you sit & discuss styles.

Forth Step:

Deciding your veil colour

White being a bright generic white

Silk white is between a white & off-white

Diamond white is an off-white

Ivory is a plain generic ivory

Pale ivory is a light shade of ivory.

Blush pink is a very light tint of pale pink, only noticing it's slight pinkish tint when gathered

Rosetta is a light pink which shows an obvious pink colour when gathered into a comb

Beige is a dark ivory

Shimmer or glimmer tulle is a tulle with a shiny glass organza effect in the light

(Remember to ask your bridal store what is the exact colour of your gown)

Tulle samples are available for purchase if you're unsure what shade-colour your gown is

Tulle Types

Deciding your tulle type

The tulle varieties we offer are soft bridal illusion tulle which is imported directly from the USA & crisp while still soft English tulle imported directly from Europe.

Bridal illusion tulle is a soft, fine gauge & light weight tulle.

English tulle is a luxurious tulle which has a crisp feel yet still soft and a perfect choice for the more expensive high end gowns - the English tulle colours are created especially for the high end coloured fabrics.

Each tulle type will drape & flow differently, our store veils display an image with the veil on the store mannequin to assist in showing you how each veil will drape & flow when being worn.

Veil Lengths

If you are unsure which veil lengths available will suit your needs, measure the lengths you require by starting the measuring from the point where the veil comb or bobby pin loops will be fastened (top of the head or underneath your hairstyle etc.).

Never hold the tape measure firmly, let it drape and flow as the tulle veil will drape & flow.

If a facial length is required, keep in mind that the veil will need to go over your hairstyle & headpiece. While measuring, allow extra room for your hairstyle & headpiece.
